Pure.  Simple.  Bastille Soap made with only two oils, Organic Olive Oil and Organic Coconut Oil.  To best nourish your skin we infuse the organic olive oil with dried calendula petals through a multi-step process.  This extracts the beneficial properties from the calendula petals into the olive oil.  Those properties are then present to your skin.

We first fill quart-sized canning jars with dried calendula petals then pour organic olive oil over the petals and fill the jars until the oil is an inch above the petals, then sealed.   The jars are then placed in a water bath in a huge pot and slow-simmered for 8 hours then allowed to slowly cool whilst still in the water bath overnight.  The next day the oil is poured through a strainer lined with cheesecloth to separate the oil and petals.  Now we have the enriched oil ready to use for making Bastille soap.  The petals are then discarded.

This soap is gentle enough to use on all skin types.  Calendula is known to have regenerative and anti-inflammatory properties.  Calendula reportedly promotes the healing of burns, cuts, skin irritations, and diaper rash.  It is also said to soothe dry, chapped skin and be gentle on sensitive skin.  It is often used in baby skin care products.  While we are not making claims that our soap does these things, we tell you about documented findings to help you decide how this soap may help you.

Fragrance:  None.  No fragrances of any type are added to this soap.  Any aroma which you may smell very vaguely is from the natural aroma of the olive oil and coconut oil.  Nothing else.

About:  All our soaps are hand-crafted right here at Hammock Bay Soap studio in Pensacola, Florida.  We make it in very small batches so each bar can get the love and attention it deserves.  After the soap “batter” is poured into wooden molds it is covered with cozy blankets.  Over the next 24-48 hours it goes through the saponification process and transforms into beautiful soap.  We like to say the soap is sleeping, and cannot be disturbed during that time.  After the magic has occurred and it is now soap, we unmold it, hand-cut each bar one at a time, and inspect each one.  They are then lined up on curing racks and allowed to quietly rest over the next 6-8 weeks.  Whew!  Then finally, each bar is inspected yet again, hand-wrapped and prepared to embark on their journey to their new homes.

Weight:  Approximately 3.2 oz.  Please note that all our soaps are hand-cut so actual weight may vary slightly, to your advantage!  They are often higher in weight than what is listed!

To Use:  Keep your soaps in a dry, ventilated area when not in use.  You can help them last far longer by creating this perfect environment.  You may wish to purchase a wooden soap rack to help with this process.
